Assessment Task 1: Project
Questions -
1. Consider yourself as a operational manager in your current workplace. You have to develop and implement operational plan using information from your organisation. Ensure that you:
- Plan adequate resource allocation
- Choose relevant key performance indicators
- Put in place performance monitoring processes
- Develop relevant contingency plans.
2. Communicate effectively with relevant stakeholders (discuss with your assessor assuming him or her as the relevant stakeholder of the organisation) during the development and implementation of the plan. Ensure that you:
- Provide supporting information (e.g. specialist information, data)
- Seek approvals for plan where necessary
- Identify variations and negotiate for them
- Engage work teams.
3. Develop and implement strategies to achieve the operational plan within the organisation's policies, practices and procedures. Ensure that you consider:
- Recruiting, inducting and developing personnel according to the organisation's policies.
- Acquiring physical resources and services according to the organisation's policies.
- Protecting intellectual property.
- Making variations to the plan.
- Develop, Monitor and review of documenting performance in order to achieve productivity.
- Identify and analyse budgets and financial information.
Assessment Task 2: Case Study and Role Play
Part A - Case Study
You have to read and understand the Case study and all documentation of Coffee Villa provided carefully. Considering yourself as the Manager in the organisation, you have to answer the following questions in the form of a detailed report.
1. You have to identify information for supporting resource proposal (for example you can chose the financial information source both the CoffeeVille Budget and financial Projections 2011/2012 and CoffeeVille Financial Statements 2011/2012).
2. After identifying you have to write an email or letter to the management of the organisation highlighting the need for resources.
3. You will use mathematical problem solving strategies to determine whether the resources are sufficient for the current operational plan.
4. Finally you will draft a timetable for the aspects of the operational plan and please make sure that you will provide sufficient details for your schedule.
Part B - Role Play
In the group of 3 you have to conduct a role play in which one person will be HR manager, the second would be the colleague of your team and third would be health and safety specialist.
Consider the following points below while doing your role play:
In the first scenario you have to consult with the health and safety specialist about changes to organisation policy which you did in Assessment 1.
In the second scenario you will discuss with your colleague about the upcoming changes in your workplace due to change in the organisational policy. Also discuss areas of underperformance and discuss solutions and take actions to solve the problem. Discuss about the mentoring and coaching support.
In the third scenario you will demonstrate that you are giving a telephone call to your colleague in which you will give the directions for the implementation of the operational plan you did in assessment 1.
Assessment Task 3: Written Questions

2. Explain the role of an operational plan in achieving the organisation's objectives.
3. Explain what you should take into consideration during the budgeting processes?
4. How can you develop key performance indicators to meet business objectives?

6. Give examples of your organisation's policies, practices and procedures that directly relate to the operational plan?
