Assignment: Draft a Research Plan Based on a General Operational Model
Instructions
The assignment for this week is the first version of that research plan. In designing a research plan, please build on the assignment in Week 1 and the feedback you received; and incorporate the readings for this week and the brief overview in the introduction for this week. For this first version of a research plan, produce a well-written (following APA style), logically presented proposal. Use the following prompts to ensure that you address, in an initial way, each component.
1. Need for Study: In two or three paragraphs, identify a research need. Using literature in the field, support the need for the study and provide the background of the topic area that clearly identifies the known and not-yet known. A minimum of four sources should be used. Citations should be in APA format.
2. Research Problem: In two sentences, clearly articulate the general problem area (sentence one) and the very specific research problem for the proposed plan (sentence two). Too often, research problems are stated as assertions, observations, or goals. Work to present the research problem as a problem.
3. Research Questions: Provide three to five well-written research questions. As a group, they should align perfectly with the research problem, clearly present the variables and their relationships, and provide direction as to the statistical analyses that will be used.
4. Hypotheses: For each research question, a null and alternative hypothesis should be generated.
5. Research Plan: Provide a brief (two pages) plan for the proposed study. Identify and define the variable, discuss the sampling process, and describe the data-gathering and analysis steps.
Prior to submission, review your draft plan and self-assess for the following:
· Are all components adequately addressed?
· Do all components align perfectly with the research problem?

Your proposal should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic.
