Assignment 1 Instructions

Throughout this course, we are going to draft a company policy that encourages managers to empower their employees.  Several topics will be analyzed in preparing this policy to ensure that it will be successful upon implementation.

Topics that will be addressed include company culture, motivation, economics, managerial accounting, decision making, and risk management.

We will work through these issues as they relate to your idea for a new policy and end with a final proposal to the executives.

Assignment 1:

Throughout the first two weeks, you have read about the importance of motivating employees within a company as well as how this is an economically wise decision.  The first step in this project is to come up with your idea as to how you are going to motivate the employees within the company.

I want you to explain the idea, and present research to support the importance of motivation (how it benefits both the company and the employee) as well as support for your idea specifically.

This does not need to be written as a formal research paper, but all research provided does need to be cited in APA format.  You may write in the first person because you are presenting your own ideas.

You do not need to provide an abstract, but you do need an APA formatted title page and reference page.  Your paper should be a minimum of 2 pages (approx. 700 words) not including the title and reference.

Assignment 2 Instructions

Over the last couple of weeks, we have read about accounting and decision making. We are going to apply these concepts to your idea from week 2.  Provide a cost/benefit analysis for your idea.

Make sure to mention any sunk or opportunity costs involved in the implementation of this policy as well as the long-term increase in projected profitability.

You are permitted to use fictional numbers as far as costs go, but you should provide research to support any opportunity costs or projected profitability. You can find industry averages for various program costs and projected benefits.

Assignment 3 Instructions

Every program has risks associated with it.  This week, I want you to review your idea and provide a risk analysis.  What are the potential risks involved with this program, and what processes can be put in place to manage these risks?  One specific risk that I want you to discuss is related to cultural differences.

Please assume that your company is a multinational corporation...will this program work in all areas of the business?  If not, how can it be adapted for the other country/countries involved?

Assignment 4 Instructions (This is the assignment you need to do!)

This is it!  You have spent the last 7 weeks working through the necessary information to present a solid plan to the executives.  This project comes with some flexibility.

You are required to create a presentation that discusses the employee motivation plan you were required to develop in Assignment 1.

The presentation should also discuss the costs and benefits associated with the motivation techniques and the risks involved. Your audience is composed of the senior executives of your fictional company.

You can choose the format of this submission.  You can write a formal proposal, a PowerPoint presentation, or a video presentation.  If you would like to use something different, please send me a message to ask for guidance before submission.  Please know, that you will not be graded on your chosen format...only on the content.

You should already have the research needed based on the last 3 assignments.  As always, you need to cite your sources using APA format.

If you are submitting a presentation in non-written form, please make sure to mention your source when using information and submit a written document listing those sources.

All the topics previously discussed should be addressed in this presentation as well as a solid introduction and conclusion.
