Question: During this period of democratic decline, checks on abuse of power and human rights violations have eroded." Although, at first it was hard getting a clear basis of what everything meant at first after going over the graph provided and the reading in my opinion the report is suggesting that more and more over the years countries are declining following the democratic rule. The reason i say this is because in the graph it was listed that in the year 2021 democratic rule has had the most countries that did not improve over the years. From what i got from the reading Freedom House believes that there are numerous challenges that stay in the way of democracy. For instance, in my opinion one of the biggest challenges that stand in front of democracy is the Discrimination and Mistreatment of Migrants. The reason why i believe this is the most important one is because a democracy is suppose to accept everyone no matter the color or race so for them to be treated poorly because they're different will not help democracy flourish. In my opinion even though the United States is known as one of the biggest country with a democracy ruling they are not the pinnacle of democracy. I say this because even the United States have gaps they need to fix before they can say they're perfect. The report suggest that just like every other country the United States is not perfect and they themselves can fall below their peers at times. Yes they are several weakness for instance political domination is a weakness that needs to be fix.
