From chapter 9, the object that interests me the most is the Dome of the Rock. I chose the Dome of the Rock because the dome's exterior is gorgeous. The top of the crown is covered in a golden dome and the lower portion of the dome is plastered with ceramic tiles. The inside of the dome has "opulent marble veneer and mosaics", which were all, in fact, original as opposed to the ceramic tiles. Among the mosaics inside, inscriptions were included of passages for viewers to read as they wall along on a turquoise-colored floor. A few of these inscriptions read about the building's history or religious stories. Below the mosaics, the walls were made of marble containing patterns and other images embellished with jewels and other colored tiles. The patterns and images shown within the marbled walls were actually representing the gardens of Paradise and other symbols relating to God.
