Does this sound accurate In my opinion, mental illness is a complex issue that can result from both mental and physical factors, which yes, does place us in mind/body dichotomy camp. For example, we know that structural changes in the brain are associated with certain mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia. However, we also know that other mental illnesses, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), can be brought on by traumatic experiences. In addition, depression can cause a wide range of physical symptoms, such as fatigue, changes in appetite, and trouble sleeping. Furthermore, the depressive state of the individual may impede their ability to concentrate, make decisions, and enjoy past interests.
