Just about all crime policies are based on some theoretical foundation. That is, in order to understand what will reduce or eliminate criminal behavior, it is necessary to understand the cause of the criminal behavior.

• In this activity you will need to select 2 different theoretical explanationsfor domestic violence that were discussed in either your text book or in the course materials.

For each theory:

Question 1: Discuss the main arguments of the theory in general (i.e. how does the theory explain domestic violence?)

Question 2: Does the theory explain victimization or offending? How do you know this?

Question 3: Using the theory as a foundation what types of policies or programs could be developed based on the assumptions of the theory? Make sure the policy you discuss is based on how the theory explains domestic violence.

• Your paper should be two pages typed and double spaced (minimum 500 words) and should be proofread for spelling and grammar. Points will be deducted for poorly written papers.
