Question: In the Federalist Papers (a series of articles from 1787-88 in which supporters of the US Constitution argued for its ratification), it is stated that the judiciary is the weakest of the three branches. In the introductory forums from last week, a number of the issues that came up were either caused by Supreme Court decisions or enabled by them. Consider whether the power of the Supreme Court has increased and whether it is still the weakest branch. Specifically, answer each of the following questions:

Are you concerned that the power of the Supreme Court has become excessive, especially given that Supreme Court justices are not elected? Or, you can argue that the Supreme Court is not powerful enough and needs to do more to protect rights. In either case, please mention specific Supreme Court decisions that support your position (providing links to news stories with details helps back up your argument).
Does the Supreme Court need to be reformed and, if so, what reforms should be done? For example, you can consider whether the Supreme Court should it be made elective rather than appointed or whether the term of office for the judges should be shortened. You are also free to argue for other possible reforms. You can even argue against reform, if you like. Be sure to consider both pros and cons of any position you adopt.
