Question

Exposure to real-life animal research footage can help you better understand the field of animal behavior and how scientists measure behavior in standardized ways. For this assignment, locate video footage of research with a non-human animal. Focus the research on either evolutionary forces impacting behavior (such as natural selection or behavioral adaptation) or proximate forces impacting behavior (such as the impact of various life experiences).

For this post, share a video you located. Then describe some general background information on the animal species (taxonomic information, natural habitat, any other relevant information on behavior), as well as whether the animal is a solitary species or a group living species.

Next, describe what is occurring in the video. What questions are the researchers attempting to answer? What is the population the scientists are studying (is the animal wild or captive)? Does the study seem to be experimental or observational? Does it seem to be asking questions at the proximate or ultimate level of analysis?
