The beginning of the twenty first century has been marked by countless advancements in technology. Computers are a household fixture, essentially everyone has a cell phone, and information can cross the globe with the click of a button.
With the enhanced interconnectedness of our world, videos have become a favored method for sharing information. This is especially effective when videos go viral, or are rapidly circulated around the Internet and other mediums.
In order to create effective videos, organizations need to consider what factors play a role in making a video viral. In our research we will explore how the video length, music presence, content, and purpose of a video affect the number of views it receives.
Dependent Variable:
To determine the virality of a video, the number of views will be used.
Independent Variables:
1. Length of video (minutes and seconds)
2. Music presence (no music, with music)
3. Content of video (Music, comedy, or news)
4. Purpose of the video (To entertain, persuade, or inform)
RQ: Does the length of a video and music presence affect the number of views of a video?
As a business, it's essential to market yourself over many different mediums, making use of multiple channels. Adjusting your business to appear over many social media outlets to gain movement and followers.
In fact, several studies have been performed regarding virality as it pertains to an organization's marketing presence.
