Because physicians are typically busy treating patients (in the back of the office), they place an enormous amount of trust in their office and management staff to “handle matters up front.” Additionally, it is important that healthcare practice managers understand those circumstances which have the potential to give rise to their own professional liability (not just the physician’s), and what responsibilities and liabilities may be attributed to their own actions by virtue of them being employed by a medical practice.
