Problem Summary -

Inadequate nurse-physician communication leads to medical errors, poor patient outcomes, the use of unnecessary resources, and a lack of clarity of communication among team members. According to the Institute for Healthcare Communication [IHC] (2023), evidence-based research indicates that effective communication among healthcare team members profoundly impacts patient safety and significantly influences the quality of working relationships and job satisfaction within the multidisciplinary team. However, healthcare teams continue to face increasing patient volumes, changing workflows, and more complex treatment and management of patients, resulting in significant gaps in timely communication and collaboration. The purpose of this project is to implement and evaluate the integration of a nurse-led daily rounding tool on the Telemetry Unit at Woodwinds Hospital to improve nurse and physician satisfaction.

PICOT Question -

In nurses and providers who work on the telemetry unit at Woodwinds hospital, does the implementation of an evidence-based nurse-led daily rounding tool, I-Pass, improve nurse and provider satisfaction compared to no routine rounding?
