Problem: Does illegality automatically equal unethical? Aristotle tended to think of laws as ethical training wheels, existing so that children, women, non-Greeks, and other such mental defectives, do not get overtaxed concerning questions of what they should do. Locke, on the other hand considered ethics to be the judge of laws, which is the exact opposite. To him, it could be ethical to rebel and break the law.
