If you think about some major decisions from your life, consider whether emotion or logic was the determining element. Ultimately, the logical, rational thing to do is to discover people's dominant values and use this information constructively to help balance their emotions. As an exercise, you might select one decision from those you thought of, then list the criteria you used to make that decision. Those criteria will reveal your personal definitions and values. In other words, the criteria you used to make an important decision are those you would most likely use in any important decision.
