How would I answer this question: Does identity matter in international politics? Answer with reference to two IR theories, at least one of which must be a critical theory.

For example, if you want to argue that identity is irrelevant/ highly relevant in international relations, you might select two theories that take opposite positions on this question, thereby allowing you to play one off against the other in order to make your case. Conversely, if you wanted to argue something more nuanced, like "yes, identity matters, but only certain kinds of identity and it only matters in certain ways", you might select two theories that both foreground the role of identity, providing material for you to develop this argument.
