Aflac is ranked the top ethical organization on the country. It is also the largest provider of supplemental insurance in the U.S. There are many reasons Aflac has a competitive advantage over its competition, but three particularly stand out. The organization cares about the environment, it is an equal opportunity employer, and donated to worldwide societal issues. After implementing the first sustainability bond policy, the Aflac has allocated over two hundred million to communities, green buildings, renewable energy, and socioeconomic advancement and empowerment. It's fair employment policy has allowed for over sixty percent of its board members to be minorities and women. Lastly, Aflac has donated over one hundred and fifty million dollars to children with cancer in both the U.S and Japan (Gemeš, 2022). With that being said, it is evident why Aflac is one of the leading insurance companies. The sustainability efforts and assistance to families battling cancer set them apart from other organizations. Customers who are passionate about these causes will be more inclined to work with Aflac as opposed to other insurance companies. Also, the diversity of the companies leadership will not only attract employees, but it will also attract customers. Diverse leadership allows for a wide variety of ideas and the ability to appeal to a larger audience where marketing is concerned.
