Mr. CC is a 50-year-old African American male, who presented at the doctor's office for his annual physical examination. The nurse at the office while after taking his vitals, did a review of the systems and noted that the patient reporting fatigue/tiredness, abdominal fullness and altered bowel pattern mostly constipation. He denied passing any blood in stool or any black tarry stools in the recent past. He also denied any significant weight loss. However, the nurse noted that his current weight was 15 pounds less than that noted previously in his chart. His primary care provider performed a physical and FOBT at the bedside, which in turn was for Occult blood. The practitioner gave Mr. CC a script for pantoprazole, CBC, BMP, CEA, and a referral for the gastroenterologist.
