That assignment asks you to state what your goals are for parents of the children in your classroom. What would you want families to gain as a result of spending time with you as their child's teacher?

Is there something you wish parents had a better understanding of in terms of child development? Do you wish parents knew more about the value of involvement in their child's school? Do you wish parents knew appropriate ways to guide child behavior? These are just a few ideas of the direction you could take with your goals.

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Write three goals. Goals need to be something that is achievable in the amount of time you will have with the parents, for example, one school year.

2. Begin by making your goal statement in this format "Goal 1: Parents will discover the value of daily reading to their children."

3. Next, state how you (the teacher) will help parents reach the goal. "They will be provided with reading material on literacy and shown how reading to their child is parent involvement and one of the best home activities they can do. They will be shown simple literacy activities to do at home.

4. The goal needs to be a minimum of three sentences and a maximum of four sentences.
