Problem: Discuss the findings of Professor Mark Skidmore of Michigan State University, who with a former director of HUD (Housing and Urban Development in the Federal government), found that there were $21 trillion dollars (that is $21,000 billion dollars, equal to the entire US national debt) that was "missing" or "unaccounted for" in Federal expenditures (primarily in the Department of Defense and Housing and Urban Development) during the fiscal period of 1998 through 2017. Note that I have posted a link to the original source documents, which subsequently were all removed from Federal websites after Dr. Skidmore began contacting the Federal government asking questions. Do you think these findings are accurate? If so, what are the implications of this? Is this the first time you have heard of this story? Do you think it is important and why do you think it has not been reported on?
