Question - Volcano Eruption

In April 2010, a volcano erupted in Iceland that spread volcanic ash across thousands of miles and disrupted air travel and global commerce for a number of days. The volcano had been having small eruptions since January 2010 and in April 2010 it exploded.
As thousands of flights were cancelled across Europe, thousands of travellers could not get to their destinations and businesses dealing with perishable products such as fruits, flowers, fresh fish and meat and medicines and pharmaceuticals incurred huge losses. Even manufacturers were affected. For example, BMW had to scale down its production in USA as it depended on supply of parts from Germany by air freight.

Companies had to depend on the internet, video conferencing and emails to continue with their business. Hotels and resorts had to cancel reservations as guests could not arrive and highways, railroads and roads were jammed as people used land transport to travel to some of their destinations.
