Assignment:

Social was and is a regressive tax (single withholding tax rate for everyone, regardless of income level) which actually hurts poor and middle class workers more than wealthy Americans. With this in mind and the historical context of the original controversy, do you think that Social Security is fair? Should we modify it or even abolish it with the idea of some sort of other substitute? Do we just maintain it with just slight adjustments for the future? What is your opinion to this notion.

Note:

Currently, the earliest you can start collecting retirement benefits is age 62. For people born in 1960 or later it will rise to 67 years of age. For maximin benefits, you must wait until age 70. There is no minimum age requirement of Social Security Disability Insurance. The question of when you can receive benefits is separate from a more essential of question: When should you claim benefits? The answer is complicated and depends on your work situation and other considerations.
