Problem

I find the challenge of "rapidly aging population" to be the most interesting. The population above 65 is predicted to go from 15% to 24% of the total population. The aging population burdens both short and long term health care financing, delivery, and workforce systems. This will also put a burden on social programs like medicare, as most of them are or will be enrolled when they pursue this care. I found this to be the most interesting challenge, because the healthcare system of the US strives to find new interventions to extend peoples lives even if it continues to increase the burden on society in many ways. I think that the solution of "Fully Embracing the Centrality of Population and Community Health" would be the best way to tackle the problem that I picked. Promoting family and group/community care towards elderly care would be the best way to take the burden off of the healthcare system. If the elderly population had help with day to day tasks that potentially pose risk to them through fall or trauma injuries.
