"School to College to Career: The Need for Seamless Transitions," by Phyllis K. Adcock and Jeanne L. Surface. I found this article very interesting because it brought to light the struggles that exist for students who are unsure what they want to pursue career-wise. The beginning of the article talks about two girls and their journeys through graduating high school. One of the girls comes from a lower economic status than the other, which typically would mean that this girl would not have as much success.

However, she was able to use the resources available to her, like school counselors and an educational advancement program, and had much more success than the other girl who had successful parents but was offered no help in figuring out her pathway to success. The article focused on the importance of dual enrollment programs. It discusses how senior students in high school often lose the motivation to try in their last couple of months, which I'm sure many of us have personally experienced. With the integration of dual enrollment programs, it keeps senior students focused and eases them into the pace of the college experience while simultaneously exposing them to different career options they could be interested in.

My question regarding this topic is, do you think that dual enrollment programs are actually the answer? Or do you think there could be a more successful way to help students figure out their interests and gear them towards success?
