Question: A large tech company is looking to hire 10 new engineers. HR note that 87% of their engineers at present are male. Also, there are no female senior engineers. To try to help redress this imbalance, and to increase the diversity of their workforce, HR decides to put in place an affirmative action (AA) policy as such: gather together the top 50 female applications and the top 50 male applications. Select the top 5 best applications from the male pile and 5 of the best from the female pile. Offer these 10 individuals the jobs. All applicants must be qualified for the positions.
