Question: The old adage is that "if you try to make a heaven on Earth, your are more likely to end up with a hell." These utopian visions usually end up creating "dystopias" (horribly imperfect worlds). The ideas of utopia and dystopia have become very prominent in books, film, and television series. One of the most famous dystopian novels is 1984, written in 1948, which offered a horrifying vision of a society that could evolve in the future. I want you to think about what films, books, or TV series you have come in contact with that use utopian, dystopian, or utopian/dystopian themes. The last category is perhaps the most interesting because it demonstrates how an attempt at a perfect world leads to a horrific one.
