1. Do you practice a religion with any food restrictions? If so, what religion, and what practices do you (or members of your family) follow?

2. Were you aware of some/most/any of the food practices discussed in this module?

3. What point is the author, Marvin Harris, making about eating pork in The Abominable Pig? Why was the pig abominable, in his point of view? Give 2 reasons why he says keeping and eating pigs did not make sense for the people in the Middle East.

4. Are you familiar with the Jewish law of meat and milk? In the video Keeping it Kosher in LA's Kosher Corridor, what Biblical passage does Michoel relate to Kiran to explain it (you can do a quick Google if you don't understand it from what he says). In Michoel's grandmother's kitchen, how is the kitchen set up to be kosher? (Additional information: Orthodox Jews make up a small percentage of American Jews (13-20% ? - hard to tell, since sources do not seem to agree), but this is changing, as the birth rate for Orthodox Jews is much higher than the birth rate for Conservative or Reform Jews).
