Barriers that individuals face when returning to the community after incarceration are what I like to compare in a way of coming home from a deployment. Barriers faced are, coming into a community that you have been out of for so long, coming back to large groups that are loud, and people you are not familiar with. Going into a grocery store or a shopping department can be overwhelming as a person has not been able to do that in quite awhile. Being able to talk to people whenever you want, and have them over when you choose. Being able to eat whatever food you want is something different, making a small decision as what to eat can be challenging. When having to find a job after incarceration, it can be difficult as now a person is required to change their routine.

Transtitioning back into society is difficult, this could lead to relapse or going down a bad way that you have worked so hard to get out of. In Ohio 32.7% of people released from prison, enter prison again within 3 years. I think having a program that bridges leaving incarceration and back into civilian life would be good for all of the incarcerated people, not just the people who commit crimes again.
