My sister-in-law is Sicilian and lives just outside of Palermo. When we are able to visit or to share Facetime, language is challenging and sometimes frustrating, but love knows no language barriers.

My daugher-in-law is from Japan and the wedding was spoken in English and was translated so that her Japanese family, who knew little English, could appreciate the ceremony. We enjoyed many evenings and meals together on their visit to the U.S., but there was no communication without an interpreter.

I have found it rather frustrating to be very close to people but almost completely unable to communicate through words. The same would be true when communicating with someone that was hearing impaired or deaf.
