Title: Kanas school district bans trans students from preferred sports teams and restrooms

After a months-long debate, Gardner Edgerton school boards has approved a policy that bans transgender students from using their preferred restroom or playing on sports teams that align with their gender identity. Approved Monday, students must use the restrooms or locker room that corresponds with their gender assigned at birth but staff are still advised to address students by their preferred pronouns. At every school board meeting where this policy was debated, students had showed up and told the board that they did not want this policy. This policy was put into effect because Tom Reddin, the board president wanted " to have a safe environment for everybody. I want to take care of everybody". He later on goes to say that he has been getting emails that "isn't just the transgender community, we've also got special need children we want to make sure we're covering". It was also stated that Board members has turned down $80,000 in funds to add unisex and disabilities compliant restrooms to the schools.
