In the afternoon of Monday, August 10, 2020, the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center issued a particularly dangerous situation severe thunderstorm watch for eastern Iowa, northern Illinois, extreme northwest Indiana, and southern Wisconsin. A destructive derecho, or fast-moving violent windstorm, hit the region, including Chicago, and produced 21 confirmed tornadoes - twelve in Illinois, four in Iowa, three in Indiana, and two in Wisconsin, none stronger than an EF1.
