Police discretion comes in many forms. An officer uses discretion when he chooses to issue a warning rather than a citation; he uses it in some arrest situations; and he may use it when determining where to focus his enforcement actions.

Do you believe that the use of discretion can go too far? When do you think that the police should have the ability to use discretion? and, do you think there are circumstances where discretion shouldn't be allowed?

There are some arrest situations in GA that the police have no discretion. Can you think of any of these circumstances?

In this forum, tell us what you think about police discretion; where you think the line should be drawn; what situations do you believe the police do not have any discretion in; and what incidents does GA law prohibit the use of officer discretion.
