Question: Do you believe that everyone has hidden biases that can cause a diversity issue? For example, in the past, I have overlooked extroverted and sometimes introverted colleagues during staff meetings. The result was my decisions may have been skewed because of overlooking possible quality input from both extroverts and introverts - no inclusion.

In retrospect, I was operating under the Leader-Member Exchange Theory. As you recall from week two, in Hughes et al., 2022, this theory, also known as LMX or the Vertical Dyad Linkage Theory, examines leader's relationships with team members; and explains how those relationships can either help or hurt the team. Looks like I was hurting the team. As part of the LMX theory, I was creating in-groups and out-groups. The result was my hidden biases created a diversity issue. Subsequently, my mentor shed some light on my hidden biases and I eventually became a better leader by including and soliciting all inputs.
