Advertising is a major aspect of our lives. We are constantly bombarded with it on TV and radio, on billboards, in magazines and newspapers, and even in junk mail. To ignore advertising is virtually impossible. We are surrounded by it and whether we wish to or not, we are forced to deal with it, one way or another.
1. What is the primary message of the ad?
2. What is the secondary message (i.e. the underlying cultural message) of the ad?
3. How does it portray gender?
4. Is it a positive or negative portrayal? What kinds of stereotypes are portrayed, if any?
5. Do you agree or disagree with the portrayal?
6. Could there be more than one interpretation of this ad? What might they be?
