Question: Do you agree on William James has a very interesting outlook on faith that I can partially resonate with. Highlighting in his work the lack of evidence existing to support the belief of God, he states how we as people still have to make a decision about the validity of Him. I think because there's a lot of speculation about religion and religious beliefs, the comfort in deciding to believe in God outweighs the anxiety of choosing a different path that may not end up as glorious as Heaven. This speculation leads to his theory about live or dead options, which are valid questions to pose oneself when reaching a moral crossroads. For example, choosing a live choice would guide you closer to the destined fate of meeting with God in Heaven. This could be a simple decision as far as whether you should go out on a school night, or stay in and be productive by studying for your classes. In a sense, it's a test of morality. Going out could potentially lead to consequences in the morning that stray away from the path that fate had for you, whereas being responsible and staying in leads to a more rewarding outcome. Regarding whether context matters when it comes to belief, I'd like to think that it is important in a sense where people use the context available to make a decision about their faith. I feel as though choosing a faith blindly out of fear for the unknown isn't the best option to base your lifestyle off of.
