Problem
Choose a single thing as your subject, such as a room, a house, a park, or a person, and describe it in a stream of consciousness style.
Your scene should include the following elements:
1. A character with a distinct personality and a problem or conflict
2. Detailed description, told through a specific point of view, that creates a consistent tone, a vivid setting or experience, and clear sense of the character's personality and conflict
3. A stream of consciousness style that establishes the main character's point of view and attitude
You should have completed a draft of this assignment in the activity before this one. If you haven't done so, go back and complete that activity now.
Ask yourself these questions as you revise:
1. Did I choose a specific thing to describe?
2. Does the point of view I've chosen stay consistent, or do I make it clear when it changes?
3. Does my narrator have a conflict or problem that's explored in the description?
4. Do I use vivid description that conveys my narrator's personality?
5. Does my writing reflect the stream of consciousness style?
