I believe Emile Durkheim's sociological theory, division on labor demonstrated the loss of social solidarity with the growth in society. When a society has made the steps to grow, they commit to the same beliefs and work together to accomplish their goals for the final outcome desired. Although people's norms, beliefs, and values make up a collective consciousness, or a shared way of understanding and the way they behave in the world. Their collective consciousness blinds these individuals together and creates a social integration. When the group moves to industrialize, they branch out into different specialized jobs, their circle of people changes along with the rule of understanding, beliefs and ultimately their affiliations with each other. This growth in sense makes specialized jobs more valuable than that of other jobs, making compensation unequal and creating a division into the ranks in society. Though the jobs are different in society, all are important for a society to maintain and function. I believe people have goals to be successful in life and continue their education they deserve more compensation for performing the specialized job, that others may not care to accept the education for as effort and time was given up, qualifying.
