Local press reported that out of 32,600 active cases of Coronavirus in Arkansas 425 had fatal outcome. Nationally 1 out of 88 active cases have fatal outcome. Complete Hypothesis Testing at the 1% level.

Consider distribution for sampling proportion as a Normal Distribution.

Ho in this case assumes that population proportion is p = 1/88 = 0.011;

HA will assume that p > 0.011

Calculate sample proportion  = 425/32,600 =

Calculate Test Statistics z =

Enter z-value in the online applet  https://www.socscistatistics.com/pvalues/normaldistribution.aspx and find p-value.

Compare p-value to a = 0.01 and make conclusion: reject or do not reject Ho.
