You are the HR Director of a medium sized, UK based engineering company. The Board is considering replacing its current Annual Appraisal System (which has been in place for the last 15 years) for a Performance Management process.

Critically evaluate the key distinguishing factors between the two approaches and the likely benefits and possible disadvantages of implementing a Performance Management process. Your answer should include analysis of the implications of relevant employment legislation upon managerial decision making, that would need to be addressed to ensure the change was made successfully.
