Design two short surveys aimed at detecting judgmental biases. For survey one- copy three to five of the bias questions from chapter 2 of Bazerman. For your second survey improve you own versions of those same questions. (i.e., rewrite them). And, do make certain that you have visited the website implicit and gotten at least as far as chapter three of Gladwell.
Give the first survey (quiz) to at least three friends, co-workers, family members -- minimum age 13.
Collect and tabulate the results.
Go through their answers with them, teaching them about their biases.
Observe their reactions and record them (yes, this is an important part!).
Give your test subjects your rewritten version of the quiz. What happened? Did they improve on any of the questions?
Report your results and describe what you learned -- not only about the topic, the biases and learning of your subjects, but also their reactions.
Format? Please write me a report. Remember to include copies of your surveys as an appendix, and display your data in a comprehensible form. A good paper explains clearly what happened and what meaning you infer A great paper interprets the results in terms of the concepts of the course and offers good insights into the meaning of bias in learning, memory and decision making
