Question

Central Harlem has clear disparities in child asthma emergency department visits compared to the rest of New York City; The asthma-related ED visit rate for children aged 5-17 is alarmingly high at 545 per 10,000 in 2020. This rate significantly exceeds both Manhattan (264 per 10,000) and NYC (223 per 10,000) averages, indicating a severe health disparity (Hinterland, 2018). In order to address health specific inequalities within a community, it is important to review the conditions of the problems with the potential barriers/enablers for interventions.
