ABC Company., an Ontario medium-sized company with a payroll of approximately $3 million, is downsizing and needs to dismiss between forty-five and fifty-five people, including Peter a mid-level sales manager. Peter earns $85,000 per year and has been with the company for six and a half years. Explain the Employment Standards Act (ESA) minimum requirements with respect to Peter's dismissal. Note that you are only calculating the "minimum requirements" set out in the ESA. As we will learn, the amount owed when dismissing an employee is often much greater than that minimum.
