Case: Your discussion post should be thoughtful, detailed, insightful and original. It should bring to the discussion your own original ideas, perspective and also reference the specific themes and concepts we learned in the lectures and readings. There is no minimum length, although, in order for your post to reach an appropriate level of detail and insightfulness, it should be roughly 2 to 3 paragraphs in length. Think of your discussion post as a mini essay. There are no right or wrong answers - this is a space for you to express your own ideas and opinions. The most important thing is that your work follows the instructions, is of the highest quality and effort, unique and original, and relates to the specific concepts and themes from we learned in our class. As part of this discussion, you MUST include a minimum of three separate references: one from the lectures, one from the textbook readings, and one from an outside source of your choice. The three references must be well integrated into your discussion post to support your ideas, and must be clearly cited. Discussion posts which are generic, vague, do not provide original insight, or are missing references will result in a reduction of points. Please ensure that your work is your own original work. Your own original words should be the "star" of your post, and the sources you cite should be used in a way to support or enhance your ideas.
1) Discussion post must be thoughtful, detailed, original, contributing significant new information & insight with a unique perspective. There is no minimum length, however, to meet the above criteria, you will want to aim for about 2-3 paragraphs.
2) Information presented must be relevant to discussion topic and incorporate specific concepts learned in class (lectures, readings). Show me that you completed and have learned something from the lectures and readings (and that you understand what you are talking about).
3) Include a minimum of 3 SPECIFIC references which support your ideas. These must be in direct reference to specifics from those sources (such as a direct quote or other specific details). The three references must include one reference from each of the following: Lecture ( ie the PowerPoint videos, NOT the other explainer videos such as the TED videos), Textbook / Reading, and an outside source of your choice. The references must be clearly cited BOTH within the body of your post (parenthetical citations) and also included in a works cited section at the end. References you make which are generic or vague will NOT be counted. References that are listed in a separate posting will NOT be counted (ie listing of references in another post after your initial post has been submitted).
