Given the scope and the fact that it has no set deadlines, the doctoral capstone is unlike any other coursework or project you have completed in the past. Successfully managing the milestones of the capstone-from prospectus form and proposal to the final study-requires the purposeful use of strategies to plan, manage time, and proactively address potential barriers.  

In Part 1, post an explanation of your thoughts on:

  • How long does it take to work on the first two chapters of the paper?
  • Based on that, how long do you think it will take to conduct original research and  a whole capstone with multiple chapters?
  • What are some time-management strategies you could use to ensure you make consistent progress and graduate on time?

In Part 2, post an explanation of your thoughts on:

  • Your ability to meet the requirements of your program given that you need focused time
  • When is the best time to work? In other words, when do you have uninterrupted time away from other pressures?
  • How will you manage a work/life balance-professional, personal, school and the barriers to being successful in all three? How will you stay motivated? How will you stay on track?
