Question: At this stage of your academic year, you should complete the draft of your Research Methodology chapter. Essentially, this is the formal draft of your final chapter that will be submitted as part of the dissertation. It is to ensure that you have made a considered choice of methods before you embark on any data collection, and so that the ethical approvals process for the University is followed, and should include the following items:

The working title of your project. An introductory section that refers back to the initial research question and/or particular objectives. A reflection on your philosophical paradigm. A considered choice of your methodological design. A critical discussion of the intended purpose and logic behind your approach. A thorough explanation of how you are going to conduct your investigation, to include:- Units of analysis and/or sample (Empirical research). Data collection methods (Empirical research) or the literature review strategy (Theoretical work). Data analysis approach (Empirical research) or the meta-theorization approach (Theoretical work).

A discussion of the ethical implications of your research. This means that you need to discuss the logic of your research process as well as include any draft questions that you are planning to ask the participants. Note that all the documents that are relevant to the process of gaining ethical approval should be completed and submitted as an Appendix.
