Consider our discussion of border security and border-related issues. Are the responses we are implementing leading to the desired results? If not, what could be the reason and how might we operationalize more effective measures? Or, alternatively, looking at the problem of human trafficking, is there a way to effectively counter such a threat, or is the best response still a retroactive one? As in the case discussed in My Family's Slave, how do we effectively respond to situations that do not fit what we expect trafficking cases to look like?
