Discussion about important HRM issues and considerations affecting successful foreign direct investment (FDI) business operations in a specific emerging/developing country of your choice.
Your team will examine at least three current articles about general business/economic issues in your selected country. Your class presentation should first begin with a very brief review of current broad business and economic issues, problems, challenges, opportunities, (my part is the brief overview which is the economic overview and the background of the beginning of the presentation focus on that for doing my presentation powerpoints only the background!)
But don't dwell on this information, since the primary thrust of your presentation should deal with relevant IHRM issues and challenges in your selected country, and also provide recommendations for how the effective practice of IHRM can contribute to successful FDI business operations in your selected country.
This HR-focused portion of your session should also include the sharing of HRM related examples and illustrations that encourage active class analysis and discussion. Your emphasis for this presentation should be on what are particular HR/people-related strengths in your country that would make FDI attractive, as well as possible weaknesses or challenges that need to be addressed (with your recommendations for addressing them) to ensure successful FDI in your country
Prepare your presentation as an oral executive briefing to leaders of many companies interested in doing business in your selected country. Your team will represent an economic development agency whose responsibility is to attract FDI to your country. Your presentation should therefore be positive and upbeat-but must also be realistic and should identify particular HR challenges and issues that companies must take into consideration and plan for. For example, if your identified country has very low general literacy, this should be acknowledged in your presentation and suggestions made to accommodate for this limitation, such as company investments in remedial and basic skills training.
You must come up with powerpoint presentation - 5 minutes long with add notes in the notes part which I will present. The slides must not include all the details, the notes however should touch upon the 3 main topic talked about , etc.
