Assignment:

You and your co-workers have just completed an employer-sponsored training on motivation. The next day at work, while on break, you are all discussing the motivational theories and how they apply to your everyday work life. The discussion reveals that most employees are not motivated because they never see their boss. While most employees consistently show up for work, they are disheartened by the inefficiencies of processes and inadequate equipment in the office. There are many occasions wherein employees discuss how these issues can be solved. However no one of authority is around to hear their comments, so they continue on in their routine and do the minimum work that is expected of them.

What theory relates to their motivations (or lack of motivation) and how?
What would you if you were one of these employees to try to improve this situation?
What about from the manager's perspective? Could there be reason's why he or she is not around as often as the employees need or why the company is not replacing or upgrading the equipment?
