Part 1: Discussing everyday uses of the scientific method
Most people use the Scientific Method to learn and solve problems in our daily lives, though we do not often assign the terms hypothesis, experiment, and conclusion to our actions. To explore these terms through a more personal lens, we will brainstorm and discuss examples of the scientific method from our everyday activities.
1. Think of a way that you could use, or have used, the scientific method in your own personal or professional life.
2. Describe the situation in a way that answers the following questions.
a) What is the central question or problem?
b) What is a hypothesis that you could or did generate?
c) What experiment(s) could you or did you do to test the hypothesis?
d) How would or did you interpret the possible results of the experiment?
e) What conclusions did you draw?
