Assignment:

Since we are discussing belongingness and the positive effects, I wanted to also discuss the negative side of not belonging. The Interpersonal Theory of Suicide posits one's perception they are a burden (perceived burdensomeness) and they do not belong (thwarted belongingness) are at the root of a person's desire to kill themselves. Thoughts about this? How might we, then, intervene to increase someone's sense of belonging, to prevent suicide attempts? Thoughts?
