Question: The textbook discusses how the unconscious affects one's behavior (p. 131), but not all psychologists believe an unconscious mind exists (despite what your textbook says). Some believe that since the unconscious mind is by its very definition untestable that it does not exist. Proponents of the unconscious mind report that just because it is not testable does not mean it does not exist. Where do you stand in this argument? Do you believe in an unconscious mind? Is it possible to synthesize both arguments and come to a resolution?
